Ms. Joann Berrett has over 35 years of Department of Defense (DOD) experience in life-cycle logistics, system sustainment, product support management and organizational leadership. She has a broad experience base as a proven senior leader culminating as the former director of sustainment for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program Office (JSFPO), where she was responsible for leading all product support functions for fielding, training, maintenance, and sustainment activities. Ms. Berrett executed $2.5B+ annually for US Air Force (USAF), US Marine Corp (USMC), US Navy (USN), eight partner nations, and three foreign military sales (FMS) customers and directed activities associated with initial spare parts required for first aircraft arrival and unit beddown; maintenance planning and level of repair analysis (LORA); modification planning, budgeting, and scheduling; organic depot activations; and field-level sustaining engineering support.

Significant Career Accomplishments

  • Directed F-35 level of repair analysis (LORA) to determine required depot repair capacities; determined and procured all initial F-35 spares and deployed and afloat spares packages and ensured support for first aircraft arrival and deployment activities.
  • Directed F-35 modification planning to meet both field and test requirements determining trade-offs and schedule impacts.
  • Established multi-organizational/multi-functional crisis management team for A-10 fuselage cracking; developed methodical approach for inspecting and repairing aircraft without grounding or interruption to on-going deployed activities.
  • Established framework to articulate the organizational, functional, and authoritative responsibilities of the new Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF)-directed Aerospace Sustainment Divisions (ASD) under Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) five center construct—developed concept of operations (CONOPs), instituted guiding principles and critical capability areas for all three Air Logistics Complexes (ALCs).
  • Managed the 20-year, $12B F-16 system sustainment (Falcon 2020) contract with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and ensured on-going access to sustaining engineering once production was completed.
  • Initiated an in-depth review of entire A-10 fleet to develop a condition-based maintenance concept for depot-level maintenance.
