Gerry Freisthler

Senior Executive Service, Department of the Air Force (Retired)

Mr. Gerry Freisthler has more than 35 years of experience in Department of Defense (DOD) program management, systems engineering, fleet sustainment and consulting with direct program leadership experience at USAF product centers and Air Staff. He has successfully led multiple programs in every life cycle phase from developmental planning through fleet retirement and has extensive propulsion experience. Mr. Freisthler was the director of engineering at Air Armament Center (AAC) and Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC, now AFLCMC) and served as the Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) senior civilian.

Significant Career Accomplishments

  • Directed a workforce of 1000+ engineers/logisticians responsible for the systems, manufacturing, integration, propulsion, avionics, structures and  aeronautical engineering in support of all AAC acquisition/sustainment efforts.
  • Led numerous acquisition strategy teams for programs including F110 and F119 Fighter engines, JASSM, SDB I and II, F-22, AIM-120 D and classified programs.
  • Exercised program executive officer (PEO) authority over classified programs, provided direction to civilian workforce, and assisted the commander and all aircraft PEOs in leading the USAF’s center of excellence for development and acquisition of aeronautical systems.
